It Really Changed My Life

Marlon Jacobs

My name is Marlon Jacobs. I’m from Cape Town.

More than two years ago I was living on the streets due to my drug addiction. I used to smoke tik, dagga, mandrax, alcohol - anything that I could use to bring me down, feeling sorry for myself. But in all I went through, God was gracious to me. My family and friends wanted nothing to do with me. We were always fighting, always disagreeing, never on the same page. Things just escalated from there on to the worst.

Until one day I was sleeping behind a shop, I cried out to God and I said, “God if you there, plz help me.” My prayer was answered. It led me to a Baptist church not far from where I was staying, it was a support group for young people using substance abuse. I spoke to someone telling him I want to change my life, I can’t go on like this anymore. He spoke to me said he would help me and it was so that he knew my brother, and I was happy things starting to go right. He said to me he knows of a place in Malmesbury, Kwasizabantu mission, I said I’m willing to go. He took me the Wednesday but I never had a ID so they couldn’t book me in. But this man, Brenno, a man of God, helped me immediately took me for my ID and he even paid for it. I waited three working days and went back to the mission.

On a Friday 2018 June I was booked in at Kwasizabantu mission. The first week for me was hard to cope. My eyes, my ears went open when I heard them speaking about confession of sin. From that day on I confessed my sins and I could feel my burdens slowly getting less and less till I was made free by Christ Jesus. I started to help in the garden and cleaning around the plants and it was like cleaning my life from the start - pulling out the weeds that were choking the plant, so it was with my life. My sin that was choking me and killing me deep with in my heart. I came to learn lots of things here at Kwasizabantu. I am truly grateful for Mr Erlo Stegen bringing the Gospel like he did. It really changed my life so I give God all the glory for what he has done in my life. I now work in the butchery  in one of the projects. And I’ve made right with my family and friends. Today they ask me to pray for them and asking me for advice.

There is only one who can change you - Jesus Christ my Lord and saviour 🙌🙏
